Objective
The goal of Golf is to transfer all the cards from the seven stacks to the single waste pile as swiftly as possible. That’s all there is to it! Sounds simple, right? Are you sure you don’t prefer to play tiddly-winks instead?
Golf Regulations
All card placement occurs on the single waste pile. A single, visible card from one of the seven stacks may be moved to the waste pile if it forms either an ascending or descending order, regardless of the suit. Thus, in the example above, either the 5 or the 7 may be placed on the 6. Sequences can loop around, with Kings able to build on Aces and Aces able to build on Kings. When no more cards from the stacks can be moved to the waste pile, a card from the stock is drawn to the waste pile and building continues. When the stock is depleted and no further placement can happen, then the game concludes. When playing Rules 1 and 2, for your initial move, you may take any of the visible column cards to the waste pile to kick things off, so you’ll need to scan the cards swiftly to determine which card might initiate the most advantageous sequence. For all other rules, an initial card is drawn from the stock to the waste pile, so you must build on that. Be mindful that your score is directly related to the duration it takes to clear out the stacks, so you’ll need to move quickly! My personal best on Rule 1 is 43 seconds, and I was moving at high speed. Sub-minute times may seem unattainable initially, but if you continue playing Golf repetitively, you start playing by instinct and visualizing several moves ahead. It can indeed become quite exhilarating! Don’t forget, you can double click or right-click on a card to send it soaring to the waste pile. Enjoy the game!
